A mild, traditional French sourdough. We keep our starter young, so the bread is only slightly tangy. Also available with walnuts and cranberries.

Kalamata olives are added to Blue Dog levain to create this remarkable bread. Try it with cheese.

Dried cranberries and plenty of walnuts turn our levain into this highly savory loaf.

HARVEST NINE GRAIN

Rolled in oats, the Harvest loaf boasts nine different grains and plenty of fiber. Also available with currants.

Ingredients: Unbleached white flour, sourdough starter, organic whole-wheat flour, organic rye flour, cracked nine-grain (wheat, barley, corn, millet, oats, rye, triticale, brown rice, soya, flax seeds), honey, sea salt, water.

Handling & Care

 
 

To store Blue Dog bread, we recommend that you leave it at room temperature in a paper bag for the first day. If cut, place the cut side down on a cutting board or counter. 

For next-day use, put the loaf in a plastic bag to maintain freshness. This will soften the crust, but reheating the bread in a 350° oven for 6 to 8 minutes, or until crusty, will restore the quality. If the loaf has been cut, we recommend wrapping it in foil for reheating. 

Blue Dog breads also freeze very well. Wrap the bread in foil, then plastic. When ready to use, fully defrost the bread. Then reheat the loaf in foil as described above. 

Never store your bread in the refrigerator or heat it in a microwave. Both practices will result in a less-than-satisfactory loaf.
